Inside CloudStack Collaboration Conference 2024: ShapeBlue’s Recap and Highlights

The CloudStack Collaboration Conference (CCC) 2024 has come and gone, and what an incredible event it was! It was great seeing the community come together from all corners of the globe to collaborate on all things #CloudStack.

As a Diamond Sponsor, the ShapeBlue team is proud to participate in this conference each year, whether through sponsorship, supporting the event agenda, or organising the event. It was fantastic to see so many new people and companies rally behind the project and contribute to its success! Of course, we had the pleasure to meet many of the long-term contributors and project members.

A Growing Community and Event

This year’s CloudStack Collaboration Conference marked a milestone in the journey of the Apache CloudStack project. With an expanded in-person attendee list, increased session contributions, and more sponsors, it is clear to us that the CloudStack community is thriving. It is great to see how much the event had grown in both size and impact – showcasing the maturity of the project and the continued enthusiasm of the community.

At ShapeBlue, we’ve been passionate about Apache CloudStack for many years, and seeing the continued evolution of the open-source cloud platform is exciting.

Contributing to the Agenda and Organisation

Being involved in the event organisation and having our employee-owners contribute to the session schedule was a rewarding experience. We had the opportunity to help shape a schedule filled with high-quality talks and hands-on workshops that catered to all levels of CloudStack users – from beginners to seasoned experts.

It was an honour to help steer discussions on how the CloudStack project is evolving and how businesses are leveraging it to solve real-world challenges in cloud infrastructure.

How ShapeBlue Contributes to the CloudStack Project

ShapeBlue is a major contributor to the CloudStack project, not only through assisting in CloudStack event organisation, but also as a leading code contributor. On a daily basis, ShapeBlue helps the project drive in its technical advancements through code contributions. Our team regularly submits patches, enhances features, and resolves bugs, ensuring CloudStack continues to be a robust, scalable cloud management solution.

Engaging with the Community at Our Booth

Another highlight of #CSCollab2024 was the opportunity to interact directly with the community at our ShapeBlue booth. We engaged in discussions with a wide range of attendees – ranging from newcomers exploring Apache CloudStack for the first time, to seasoned professionals sharing their experiences and challenges. These conversations not only helped us showcase the latest advancements in our own CloudStack offerings but also gave us valuable feedback from the community that will inform the direction of future developments.

CloudStack’s open-source nature was fully reflected in the discussions at our booth and the event, where users from various sectors, including service providers, enterprises, and the public sector, were eager to learn and collaborate.

A Future-Focused Event

What makes CCC so special is not just the immediate benefits of attending the event, but the long-term impact it has on the Apache CloudStack ecosystem. With increased participation from new users and contributors, there was a genuine sense of increased momentum for the project. As an organisation, ShapeBlue is proud to be a part of this journey, helping shape the future of the project and supporting its growing community in every way we can.

We’d like to thank the Apache CloudStack community for making this event a success, and we are excited to continue working with the community as we collectively shape the future of cloud infrastructure. A big thank you to everyone who visited our booth, participated in our sessions, and attended the event.

We look forward to seeing the session recordings and slides posted on the CloudStack blog in the coming weeks!
